What is Mesotherapy
Mesotherapy involves deeper injection of products into the middle layer of the skin. The products injected are registered as medical injectables and can only be performed by a doctor. Non cross-linked HA and other active ingredients such as prescription medicines, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and antioxidants can be injected to improve hydration, texture and elasticity of the skin. This process also stimulates collagen production for a powerful anti-aging effect presenting as tightening, brightening and smoothing of the skin. Dr Silberbauer does not mix any of these ingredient preparations herself but uses sterile premixed serums from reputable medical aesthetic companies. Aesthetic doctors are trained to perform the mesotherapy technique free hand but the Nanosoft™ needle is a specialised mesotherapy needle specifically designed for this treatment to ensure consistent delivery at the correct depth into the dermis. It can be used anywhere on the face but makes delivery to delicate areas like the tear trough and dark circles, neck bands, the dècolletè and hands very efficient with minimal discomfort.
Onset of Action and Treatment Duration
The effect is usually visible after 2 weeks. In general, to maintain the rejuvenating effect 4-6 sessions are recommended per year at 2-4 month intervals, but varies according to the indication and between individuals.
Pre-procedure Preparation
-
One week prior to your treatment avoid over the counter medications that can thin the blood and subsequently increase your risk for bruising. These include Aspirin, Brufen, Voltaren and other anti-inflammatory medications. Omega 3 fatty acids, Ginko Biloba, St John’s Wort, and Arnica also thin the blood and increase this side effect. Panado is a good alternative.

Injections around the mouth can trigger cold sores, inform the doctor if you are prone to cold sores, prophylaxis can be prescribed.
